OUR FLEET IN MORE DETAIL

(the fleet operational data is available exclusively to pilots at the Crew Management System)

AIRBUS A319

Small but spacious: the Airbus A319

The Airbus A319 is one of the more diminutive members of the thriving A320 family,

which includes the models A318 through A321. Its fuselage – which isn‘t quite 34

meters long – is 3.8 meters shorter than the fuselage of its big brother, the basic

A320 model. But otherwise, there‘s not much of a difference between them.

A pilot trained to fly an A319 can easily fly any other member of the family, too.

Maintenance procedures can be carried out more easily – and less expensively –

because the planes are all so similar.

AIRBUS A320

Airbus A320: First commercial jet to feature electronic technology

The A320s were the first commercial jets to install the

fly-by-wire electronic aircraft control system.

For the captain, this revolutionary development meant using

a side- stick (which replaced the control horn) to instruct the computer

to fly a curve. The computer could also adjust the flaps and

make sure the aircraft stuck to a previously selected flight path.

This made the pilot‘s job easier and improved safety, too.

AIRBUS A321

Airbus A321: Sleek, Smart, Fuel-Savvy

The Airbus A321, the longest model in the A320 family, has a

stretched fuselage of close to seven metres compared with

the basic model in the range. At the Trans European Airways, VA’s configuration,

the short to medium-haul jet seats up to 205 passengers.

Not only highly fuel-efficient, the Airbus A321 is low on noise and emissions:

Like its siblings in the A320 family, it is as environment and

climate-friendly as is currently possible.

AIRBUS A330

Airbus A330-200s Wing Their Way Softly

Fully loaded, these twin-jet, long-haul aircraft have a range

of up to 13,400 kilometers and seat as many as 348 passengers.

The necessary thrust comes from the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines

specially developed for the A330 series

and

reputed to be particularly quiet and economical

thanks in part to broader, more efficient fan blades.

They make the engines up to five decibels quieter

than comparable ones in their class.

AIRBUS A343

Extra Wheels For The Airbus A340-300

Trans European Airways, VA operates two different versions

of the long-haul Airbus A340 aircraft:

the new, ultralong A340-600, which has room for 392 passengers,

and its older, smaller brother,

the Airbus A340-300, which can hold 328.

The latter was the first four engined, widebody jet that Airbus built.

Fully loaded, it was so heavy that, as a design first,

it was given a fourth landing gear unit

beneath the center of the fuselage,

since the two rear landing gears under the wings

were not enough to carry the maximum

capacity weight of the A340-300 when it came in to land.

AIRBUS A346

Long And Quiet: Airbus A340-600

The A340-600 is the second longest passenger aircraft

in the world with a length of 75.3 meters.

Its maximum range, 12,200 kilometers,

is comparable to that of its competitors,

as is its fuel consumption:

The A340-600 uses only 4.1 liters per 100 passengers and kilometers.

It boasts particularly quiet engines, too.

At Trans European Airways, VA the aircraft seats 392 passengers.
